Curtain FAQ

Q; Can you have scenes on both sides of a curtain?
A; No. Because of the way the scenes are applied to the fabric, there is no way we can register both sides correctly.

Q; Can you have more than one scene on the same side?
A; No. This will only confuse patients and is the opposite of what they are designed to do. Our curtains were developed on the principles of guided imagery in that we are assisting patients to go into a day dream-like state of mind and will forget where they are and why they are there.

Q; Can I use a photo from my area?
A; Yes. Contact Loren at 888-515-6578 or to find out details.

Q; What is the difference between Landscape and Windowframe curtains?
A; Our Landscape curtain scene is 68" tall x 95" wide and does not have a color frame around it. Our Windowframe curtain scene is smaller, 48" tall x 75" wide, and has a solid color frame around it to simulate a window. There are 2-Landscape scenes and 7-Windowframe scenes. Windowframe curtains also have more options with colors and patterns available.

Q; What is the lead time on your curtains?
A; The lead time is 2-6 weeks depending on your order. Landscape curtains ship in 2-3 weeks. Windowframe curtains ship in 2-3 weeks depending on inventory on-hand. Printed orders take 4-6 weeks to ship.

Q; What if I only want one curtain?
A; We will sell you one curtain that is in our inventory. Windowframe curtains not in-stock have a minimum order of six (6) curtains.

Q; What if I only want a curtain to evaluate if this works in our facility?
A; We have a limited selection of evaluation curtains available in 95" wide x 88" tall and can be secured with a credit card that can be charged if the curtain is not returned within 90 days.

Q; What if my curtain is larger than 95" wide?
A; We sew side-cloth to extend the width/length of the curtain to meet your requirements. Our side-cloth has a pattern on both sides of Landscape curtains, and a matching solid color on the scene side with a selection of patterns on the backside of the scene of Windowframe curtains.

Q; What are the curtain heights?
A; Because the scene height is limited to 68" tall, we use various widths of EZ mesh to accommodate different ceiling heights. Standard minimum mesh is 18" for fire sprinkler requirements. Our standard heights are 88", 90", 96", and 104". We can accommodate other heights with a variety of methods.

Q; Do you have measuring tips?
A; Yes. Basic rule-of-thumb guidelines are: 6-10" from the floor to the bottom of the curtain and +10-15% to the length/width for fullness. There are several ways to measure; 1) find the Care label, 2) count ceiling tiles, or 3) use a tape measure. The easiest way is to locate the Care label to see if the measurements are still visible. The label is usually where the mesh and fabric are sewn together. If the label is missing or the measurements are faded, count the ceiling tiles. You don't have to be exact on the length of the track, close within 6-10" will work. If the ceiling has no tiles, use a tape measure on the floor.

Q; Do the curtains meet flame resistance regulations?
A; Yes. Our curtains have been tested and certified to meet all hospital requirements of NFPA 701 and California Title 19. For copies of the reports, click here to download a PDF.

Q; Do the curtains have an antimicrobial?
A; Yes. We use the AEGIS Microbe Shield technology that has a 50-wash durability rating. For more information and a report of the Avalon fabric, click here to download a PDF.

Q; What are the washing instructions?
A; The following is from the Care label sewn onto finished curtains. Wet Cleaning: Use mild soap or detergent in water not to exceed 160°F (synthetic setting) and high water level with mild agitation. Extract Gently. No Bleach. Dry Cleaning: DO NOT DRY CLEAN. Drying: Air, cabinet, or tumble dry low temperature. Do not exceed 3 to 5 minutes on synthetic cycle at maximum of 104°F. Hang or fold immediately after drying. For open weave draperies such as casements, sheers and lenos - Air or cabinet dry on pin frame or curtain stretcher. Finishing: If necessary, press as follows: Hand Iron - Iron at low heat setting (275°F) with damp cloth or Steam Iron with dry press cloth. Grid Head Press - Press for short intervals and with minimum steam. Do not lock head. Flat Bed Press - Press dampened drapery using cloth covering. Fabric is treated with the AEGIS Microbial Shield® System.

Q; Will the scene and color wash off or fade?
A; No. Because of the way the scene and color are applied to the fabric, the color and scene are color fast and will never fade or bleed in the laundry.

Q; Will the fabric pil or get little balls over time?
A; No. Our fabric is a 100% polyester triple-weave fabric that resists pilling.
